The much-awaited trailer of the Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ was finally released today. While SRK could not be physically present, he made his presence felt through a video call. Imtiaz, Anushka and Shah Rukh were at their witty best as they engaged in some fun banter and revealed things about themselves as well as the film.
02/12Anushka on Imtiaz Ali’s brand of romance
Having worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra directorials, Anushka Sharma has already experienced being part of a larger-than-life romance. However, when asked about what was special about working with SRK under Imtiaz Ali’s brand of romance, Anushka said, “Imtiaz understands and shows the small and relatable moments in relationships that are often overlooked in other films.”

Anushka said, “I met him on the first day of filming and was really nervous. But he was extremely chilled out and not at all intimidating and made me feel very comfortable. Looking back I realised how easy he had made it for me without being obvious about it. Till today, when I work with someone new I try to pay forward the niceness he showed me.”

In all of Imtiaz Ali’s films, the journey or ‘safar’ plays as important a role in the film as its characters do. Revealing the reason behind this Imtiaz said, “Since childhood I ‘safar’ed and even suffered a lot and that's when a lot of my stories came to me, so the journey became an important element of my story.”

Talking about her love for her director Imtiaz, Anushka said, “This was the first film which Imtiaz offered me and I instantly said yes because I always wanted to work with him. When I watched ‘Jab We Met’, I fell in love with Geet’s character and that was my first inspiration to become an actress.”

Shah Rukh joked, “I never knew that Anushka was so deep. But Anushka, I’ve noticed, you get more intelligent and deep with every film you do with me.”

Imtiaz spoke about how he came up with the idea of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ saying, “My mom once told me to make a film which can be shot in different locations so she could come visit me there! I joked that I'll make a film on a tour guide. Later, I ended up narrating the story to Shah Rukh and he said ‘Let’s do it!’”

Shah Rukh Khan jokingly disclosed the reason behind signing the film, telling Imtiaz, “I signed the film because it had your mother’s blessings, otherwise your movies aren’t doing that well.”

The team also defended themselves against criticism of the title exclaiming, “Blame Ranbir!” Anushka further added, “We’re going to create a website for all of you to lodge your complaints.” Later, when asked if they’ve cleared their debt to Ranbir for the title, Anushka quipped, “Of course we have! A Gujarati was involved and we keep our accounts very clear.”

Imtiaz lent his opinion on the recent nepotism debate saying, “The three of us are outsiders; if there was any nepotism, we wouldn't have made it this big. We are here today because of the love we got from the industry.” Anushka then added, “I was launched by YRF who has always put talent before anything, at the same time, everyone has different experiences and we must respect that.”
