Bright, sunshine, lemon or mustard…it appeared that 2017 was the year of yellow! And while we saw our fair share of stripes and plaid throughout the year, our fashion influencers more than absorbed the ‘tricky’ colour in their wardrobes this year. Designers didn’t stop at yellow being splashed on satin, floral, chiffon or lace, they made sure the colour was in your face with block look-at-me emphasis being given to the bright hue. From Sonam Kapoor to Deepika Padukone and Mira Kapoor, our starlets went on and gave us chic versions of the oh-so-feared colour. Styled by Ami Patel, Alia chose to work the bright hue with two striking separates. She donned sunshine yellow silk pants with gold block prints lending a traditional vibe to her look and paired her straight-fit pants with a bright pink long-sleeved blouse that she chose to tuck in. With her look, Alia aptly demoed how you can pair bright yellow with another bright hue to stand out and we’re sold on her style mantra!

Deepika solely chose the lambent hue to stun in. The actress worked a one-shouldered yellow gown on the red carpet and went all-over yellow for her look. Other than earrings, Deepika even did away with any other jewellery, so as to not distract from her bright hue in any way. Her dark locks created a nice contrast against the yellow and the overall look was quite a mesmerising one.

For her look at an event, Jacqueline chose to work the bright hue with her traditional look. The actress went with a Manish Malhotra ensemble to impress away. She went with a plain yellow saree and styled it with a sheer lace blouse to that extra oomph to her look. The cold-shouldered blouse lent that sultry vibe to her look and the bright colour kept her looking refreshingly chic. This wedding season, don the saree in yellow like Jacqueline has and impress away.

Styled by Sanjay Kumar Dauhaliya and Ami Patel, the actress worked a canary yellow, floral lace midi. The black shoulder straps as also the black side-ties helped break the monotony of the bright hue she had going on. The outfit, courtesy Sachin & Babi, made for a very chic brunch look and we love how Kangana didn’t distract from it by doing away with jewellery as also by opting for nude heels.

Styled by her trusted stylist, Tanya Ghavri, Katrina went all fairytale-like and opted for a ball-inspired dramatic yellow gown by Tony Ward. Katrina worked the hue in a more subtle shade than the rest and she even went with yellow-gemmed accessories to jewel with. That sheer neckline though was quite a winner! If you’re not too sure of working bright yellow, Katrina’s comparatively subdued tone is a great way of attempting to don yellow.

Mira Kapoor might be new to the whole B-Town fashion scene but she’s quite the fashionista. Styled by Sanam Ratansi, the diva attempted working the bright yellow colour with her Anita Dongre traditional look. Mira worked a very summery look by donning a floral-printed lehenga which featured a bright yellow choli and a yellow dupatta. If you’ve got a function to attend and it’s in the day, a yellow traditional look like Mira’s will definitely win you compliments.

From all, we love how Sonam worked the lambent colour the most. The actress not only gave us a unique pairing with the outfit but also colour. Donning a Gaurang Shah number picked out by her stylist and sister Rhea Kapoor, Sonam worked a multi-hued lehenga teamed with a sunshine yellow kurta and she rounded off the look by working her yellow with a rust dupatta. With jhumkas and her hair tied, she completed her look. As usual, the actress has aced her look and we love how she has given us one more unique colour combination to work with our yellow pieces.
We think 2017 was quite the ‘yellow’ year and we can’t wait to don the hue like these divas have.
