The Cannes Film Festival is prestigious international festival, held in Cannes, France. The festival previews new films and documentaries from all genres and gives accolades to the best entries in the year. The invite-only festival is one of the ‘Big Three’ film festivals, making it to the list of most exclusive events ever. With high profile guests from the entertainment industry, turning up at the red carpet in couture’s latest, the Cannes Film Festival has inadvertently become fashion spectacle too. Sonam Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai are already regulars at the festival. But recent years have seen some brand new additions. Ahead are some of our favourite Indian looks at the Cannes Film Festival.

The OG Indian queen of the Cannes, finally made her red carpet appearance this year, and it was well worth the wait. The actress chose a metallic holographic Jean Louis Sabaji couture. The form fitting, snake skin number came with a flared, futuristic one shouldered sleeve and an exaggerated v-neck and pleated cape/train. The actress kept her makeup bright and hair sleek and behind. We’re in absolute awe!

Huma Qureshi’s red carpet look was vibing high on grace and romance. Her stunning, ,multilayer ruffled Gaurav Gupta number made Huma look liked she glided , while others walked the red carpet. The trademark sculptural sleeves ensured Huma looked mystical in a sea of celebrities. She showed off her blue Chopard jewels by styling her hair in a delicate hairdo.

Diana left no stone unturned for her red carpet debut at Cannes. For the event, Diana chose a multilayered, salmon-pink Nedret Taciroglu/Nedo gown. The organza silk, multilayered gown, boasted the most beautiful and meticulous embroidery and just the right amount of faux feathers. We especially loved the embellished sweetheart neckline. With a Hollywood-glam hairdo and tear drop earrings, Dina sure checks out all the boxes!

With Cannes 2019, we’ve seen Deepika Padukone up her fashion game almost overnight. For her second red carpet appearance, Deepika a chose a flamboyant, lime-green Giambattista Valli. The actress styled her tulle gown with a salon pink, silk scarf as head-gear, a slim pink belt and matching sandals. The long trail definitely added the drama and made a ton of heads turn.

For her debut at the international film festival, Priyanka stuck with the classics with just a hint of edge. A bedazzled custom Roberto Cavalli gown, hair cascading in mermaid waves and a sharp graphic eyeliner. Her corseted glitter-bomb gown had a perfect combination of fit and flare. And if you think we missed her seashell Chopard jewellery, we didn’t!

In an earlier statement, Kangana had revealed her Cannes look would be a modern interpretation of the nine yards – and a modern interpretation it was! Kangana styled her molten gold, Madhurya Kanjeevaram saree with a custom zari Falguni & Shane Peacock corset blouse and long wine gloves. With her hair curled hair in a neat bun, and makeup game clean & nude, Kangana’s first look was a beautiful amalgamation of tradition and vintage.

Deepika Padukone ‘unwrapped’ her first look at the Cannes Festival in an extravagant monochrome gown. The custom Peter Dundas haute couture gown came in an exaggerated taffeta silk bow, eleavated shoulder pads, studded cuffs and plunging neckline. Clearly, Deepika came to play. With a super high sleek pony tail and sharp reverse-cat eye, Deepika’s beauty look was just as glorious.

Biggie of the television world, Hina Khan also made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival. The actress chose a stunning form-fitting Ziad Nakad gown at the red carpet. With bedazzled embroidery and balloon-cape sleeves, subtle nude toned makeup and a lock of curl framing her face, Hina’s look was endlessly graceful and feminine.
