The red carpet is as much as a deal as the show that follows it. And usually, the red carpet is a frothy show of fashion, trends and some ridiculous style. However, the red carpet at the 75th Golden Globes was more a show of power than style. And while about half of the men traded in their white shirts for black ones, to team their tuxedos with, the women were the ones who made a statement. Showing solidarity with the Time’s Up movement, the red carpet of the award function was almost an airtight blackout! However, it was one hell of a dazzling blackout. From feather trimmings to tulle and more, designers ensured that the celebrity turnout on the carpet was elegant rather than ‘depressing’ (as it was initially feared to be). The unspoken conundrum of this red carpet was rather glitzy and it’s even safe to say that ‘sexy’ was handled safely too. All in all, the turnout was a glamorous one, much like we expected it to be. Known as the reigning queen of the LBD (Little Black Dress), Angelina arrived on the red carpet of the Golden Globes this year and twinned with her son in the progressive colour of black. Her floor-sweeping gown featured a sheer neckline and bold sheer bell sleeves trimmed with fur. The red carpet legend wore her hair in a messy updo and went with tasteful and subtle diamond danglers to accessorize with. With an almost no-makeup look, Angie looked stunning on the carpet in the dark hue and we couldn’t tell who looked prouder. She of her impressive teen, Pax or he of his gorgeous mother.

The 48-year-old looked stunning her black number, supporting the Time’s Up movement. Working a Zuhair Murad gown, the actress probably was one our favourites on the red carpet. Her dress featured a plunging neckline, long sleeves and a stunning sheer lace skirt flowing out into a ruffled train, thus putting her toned legs on display. The actress went with statement green earrings to jewel her look with and opted for dramatic black eye makeup to complement her look. With her wavy locks styled naturally, Catherine looked like one show-stopper and we say…now this is how you make a statement!

The actress stepped onto the red carpet in a beautiful black dress from an haute couture brand. Her strappy black velvet dress featured a flowing train in a shimmery texture and unlike the other black looks, Dakota’s outfit had a special surprise at the back. The back of Johnson's dress had a gigantic silver star embellishment on it with delicate silver beaded lines that fell toward the bottom of her skirt. Surprisingly, you wouldn’t notice the silver accent from the front since it was perfectly concealed and it made for a really eye-popping statement when she turned around. With her hair worn in a low slung messy ponytail and with just diamond danglers and a light blush on her cheeks, Dakota simply looked just ‘wow’.

Being the supermodel she is, it comes as no surprise that she stunned her way on the red carpet. The 44-year-old was seen donning a strapless black high-low gown. The front of the frock was covered in billowing ruffles with sparkling black sequins embroidered into the material as was her lengthy train. Don’t miss those feather accents at her neckline. With her tanned toned legs on display, Heidi looked ramp-ready. She wore her locks in a neat chignon and went with a nude finish for her makeup. Heidi accessorized her look with black hoop earrings and went with black heels to complete her look. The German beauty looked sultry and chic, all at the same time.

While we have just stopped obsessing over her new hairdo, she’s given us one more new thing to obsess over…her gown! Kate looked incredible in a dramatic plunging Valentino sheer gown. Her outfit featured a neck that was slashed all the way down to her navel and a completely sheer hemline that helped put her legs on display. With it, Kate wore an eye-popping Harry Winston glittering diamond necklace to fill the void her neckline left. She wore her pixie-do hair slicked back and threw in a black hairband to keep it all in place. With a subtle red to her lips, Kate looked scintillating and her outfit definitely made for one of the most daring looks of the night.

Leave it to one of the gals of the Kardashian clan to make a statement, right? Kendall looked her supermodel self when she turned up on the red carpet wearing a black strapless gown by Giambattista Valli that featured a high-low hemline. The dramatic silhouette of the gown more than made up for the lack of colour or embellishments and she went with PVC heels to complete her look with. She went with Lorraine Schwartz jewels to accessorize her dark look with and wore her hair left naturally styled and left open. Going like the rest, she too went with a no-makeup look and stunned on the carpet of the award function.

Bringing her style A-game, Nicole looked jaw-dropping in a black gown that was equal parts sexy and classy. Her outfit featured a semi-sheer embellished top and a solid black skirt with a train. Nicole went with several delicate items of jewellery to accessorize with and wore her blonde locks tied up with a centre-parting. Her husband, Keith Urban complemented the lady on his arm in all black too and the pair made for one stunning couple on the red carpet…despite just going with the dark hue.

Penelope commanded attention in her Ralph & Russo gown on the red carpet. Featuring a solid train and lace accents, the gown helped put her enviable figure on display and the off-shoulder piece was definitely one of the classiest looks of the night. The actress went with a neutral palette for her makeup and wore her famous dark locks left loose and open. She left her neck bare and went with diamond danglers and a statement ring to accessorize her look with. With black peep-toed heels, she rounded it off. Stunning, isn’t she?

Reese went with a very classy look for the night. She was seen working a black gown featuring a one-shouldered accent with an interesting triangular flop-down accent, a fishtail hem and a train. She wore her blonde hair styled straight and open, revealing glittering yet subtle diamond earrings. Reese might have gone the simpler way than the others but she looked sleek and classy, all at once. In the black gown, she truly did look everything gorgeous.
