Just days back we got you’ll 2017’s most bizarre fashion trends (and there were quite a few) however, today we’ve got you’ll 12 beauty trends that made us re-think the concept of makeup and beauty entirely! Not only did these trends not pick up but they also made us cringe. It’s pretty clear that 2017 is turning out to be the year of weird trends and we bet you’re going to be done scrolling with a lot of cringing. Check all of them out here…
02/13Barbed wire brows
2017 can safely be deemed as the year that millennials chose to experiment big-time with their brows that at a point, it even got tough to stay on track! From feathered arches to ponytail brows and what-not, brow trends just went on taking over Instagram. However, barbed wire brows really got us cringing. We have make-up artist Athena Paginton to thank for this trend. The manipulated patches of hair turned down and up look super weird and there is no denying it.
03/13Black highlighter
Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for ‘edgy’ looks however when black highlighter hit the scene, we just didn’t know what to think! It The trend that was rooted post black lipstick and eye-shadow took a crazy turn and we got black highlighter! What’s more? Highlighter and ‘black’ are two complete opposites too.

First off, it’s a little weird that we are wanting to fake the effects of sun damage but then doing it with multi-hues is just downright bizarre! People even went to the extent of tattooing these fake freckles on their face. And trust us when we say you get metallic freckle ‘pencils’ and ‘tattoos’ too! This fad isn’t just highly unappealing but sounds and looks absurd too.

From ‘nontouring’ to strobing, it seemed like the beauty scene couldn’t get enough of glowy and dewy looks and full-face highlighters were just that and more! It all started with one beauty vlogger uploading her tutorial for a diamond-bright face with illuminating products to people then taking this look more as a ‘challenge’ than a beauty trend. Challenge or not…it’s bizarre!

Nail trends take to the beauty scene every now and then, however, this nail trend got us cringing big-time! This trend went viral on Instagram and people gave it all sorts of flak. Simply, we think it made our hands look like some sort of furry animal and that is just not acceptable. Bizarre 101, right?
07/13Geode lips
This was probably one of the biggest beauty trends to have hit the scene this year. This lip trend featured crystalised lips where you mix jewels with lip art. From metallic hues to sequins and more, lips were caked with it all. This highly unpractical trend looked like it took off but then fell flat rather quickly.
08/13Holographic everything
This beauty trend actually looked straight out of a sci-fi movie. The futuristic trend included chromatic eyeshadow, shimmering highlighter and pearlescent lipstick. This otherworldly beauty trend is great to work on days like Halloween but other than that...we’re not too sure.

This trend reminds of the times we drink coffee and have that perfectly applied lipstick all around the mouth and sometimes even down to the chin. ‘Lollipop lips’ originated on the runways of the London Fashion Week this year and makes for the perfect fad for those who can’t master colouring inside the lines.
10/13Neon eyeliner
Fun? Okay, we agree, but what about practical? Other than for ‘disco’ night if you go out with neon eyes, we bet you’re going to get the stares. Neon eyeliner took to Instagram and Twitter and created quite the storm however, much like we anticipated, the storm died down pretty quickly. Also, its been years that ‘neon’ faded away from the fashion scene hence we can’t fathom why neon!
