The Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2019 finally rounded up over the past weekend and boy, are we still reeling from the extravaganza it was! While the fashion week did showcase regulars like Rahul Mishra, Suneet Varma, Samant Chauhan and Namrata Joshipura, the season saw a few names too. What’s worth mentioning is their bold splash of sustainability, green fashion and environmental consciousness. In a strikingly beautiful ode to the nine yards, the fashion week ended on a high note, with Aditi Rao Hydari and Diana Penty walking as show stoppers. Aditi Rao Hydari and Diana Penty

In true India Fashion Week style, the finale that rounded up the fashion spectacle was a collective effort – but by 21 designers this time. #SixYards was an ode to the wraps and weft of the traditional Indian weave that has stayed and evolved the years. The show started by Diana Penty walking the ramp in her traditional Parsi Gara black and gold saree. The show ended with Aditi Rao Hydari, draping her mother’s rich heritage saree.

On the second day of the fashion week, Karisma Kapoor walked the ramp for designer Sanjukta Dutta. The collection, “Morom” which means ‘love’ in Assamese, was an attempt to capture the essence of Assam in the form of sarees. Karisma closed the show of the designer in a black, floral mekhala chador. With striking statement jewelry and a tight high bun, Karisma’s look was a modern take on the traditional Assamese weave.
