Indian film industry has often been inspired by Hollywood films. But it’s not just these days that we have remakes; this tradition has been going on for a long time now. Some of them were good, but others were so pathetic, that we wished that we could go back in time and erase the awful memory. When the film tries to add certain elements for the Indian audience, the film loses the essence of the original. Here are the 10 worst Bollywood remakes of Hollywood movies.

The film was a straight taken from the Hollywood movie 'Man on Fire'. Amitabh Bachchan was the slick version of Denzel Washington. The film bombed at the box office despite the majority of the audience was unaware of the original version. Apart from Amitabh Bachchan Arjun Rampal and Perizaad Zorabian were featured in the film. This movie was the last release for actor Amitabh Bachchan in the year 2005, who had 5 back to back hit films in a row. This movie was the only average grosser.

The Vipul Shah film has a plot that was very similar to the Robert Zemeckis classic film. The Hindi version was not able to capture the humor or the heart of the original one. It wasn’t surprising that the film didn’t find acceptance from the critics or the audience. Easily, one of the worst Bollywood remakes of Hollywood movies. The Hindi film starred Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Neha Dhupia. Om Puri, Kirron Kher, and Rajpal Yadav play supporting roles in the film.

The film was a direct remake of the Jim Carrey film ‘Bruce Almighty’. ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ flopped despite having an A-list cast which included Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. The film did not strike a chord with the audience and the critics found the plot to be too contrived. This is proof that the success of a film doesn’t depend on the stars alone. The film also starred Priyanka Chopra and Sohail Khan. However, the film performed poorly at the box office.

Although the film was technically an adaptation of a Shakespearean play, there are direct similarities between the two films. Both the protagonists pretend to be a man to play a sport. Despite a committed performance from Rani Mukerji, the film didn’t find much love both with the critics and the audience. This film was adapted from the 1994 cult classic film. The film performed poorly when it released. The acting of Deol and Rani Mukerji was heavily criticized by the critics. This 2011 film shares its story with Agatha Christie mystery novel that inspired the original adaptation. More people are aware of the source material and that adds to the pressure. Given the circumstances, it is no surprise that ‘Game’ didn’t do well. There is no element of suspense present, and the twists can be seen from a mile away even by the casual viewer. The Hindi action thriller was directed by Abhinay Deo and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. It stars Abhishek Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Sarah-Jane Dias, Shahana Goswami, Boman Irani, Gauahar Khan and Jimmy Shergill among others.

The film was an official remake of ‘The Italian Job’, there was a great deal of hype surrounding the Hindi flick much before its release. Unfortunately, the film didn’t do well, especially at the box-office. This was attributed to the slow pace of the film and the fact that it wasn’t able to achieve the excitement of the original. The film features an ensemble cast of Vinod Khanna, Bobby Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sonam Kapoor, Sikandar Kher and Omi Vaidya in the lead roles, while Aftab Shivdasani appears in a cameo.

Another all-star cast featuring some big names, another film that failed to make an impact. One of the only positives of the film is its wonderful songs. Otherwise, the film suffers from being incoherent and it never gives us a chance to connect with any of the characters. The excessive length also didn’t help it’s cause and created a sense of boredom for the viewer. On the other hand, ‘Love Actually’ was a good film. The Hindi film featured an ensemble cast of stars including Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, Ayesha Takia, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Govinda, Shannon Esra, Sohail Khan and Isha Koppikar in lead roles. The film met with negative reviews from critics and recorded as a disaster at the box-office.

This film just wasn’t able to match the manic energy of the original Hollywood film. Despite possessing some good actors adept at comedy, reportedly the director and the writer didn’t make the audience laugh too much. When watching ‘Snatch’, there was an element of fun that was felt by the viewer. the film has an all-star cast including Sunny Deol, Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia, Sameera Reddy and Vivek Oberoi in the lead roles. Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Sharmila Tagore, Arbaaz Khan, Om Puri and Chunkey Pandey have supporting roles, whilst acclaimed boxer Mike Tyson appeared in the promos & film credits.
