When it comes to iconic Bollywood films and iconic Bollywood roles, we can hardly imagine somebody else playing those particular characters. Bollywood is totally unpredictable. One can never tell if a film will go on to become a hit or will tank at the box-office. Nevertheless, there are quite a few Bollywood stars who have taken that leap of faith to have it all thankfully work out in the end. But did you know that there are quite a few roles which were almost played by other stars? Well, luckily for us, they didn't end up playing those characters. When it comes to Shah Rukh Khan, the actor seems to have a habit of turning down roles that ended up becoming iconic roles. SRK turned down 'Munna Bhai MBBS' and the role ended up in Sanjay Dutt's lap. We all know how that turned out for Sanjay. SRK also rejected 'Lagaan' and the role was then given to Aamir Khan. Shah Rukh also turned down Ajay Rathod's role in 'Rang De Basanti', a movie that has become a cult film. We wonder how SRK would have looked in these roles though.

Saif Ali Khan is yet another actor who has turned down an iconic role. Saif turned down the role of Raj from the most iconic film in Bollywood, 'Dil Wale Dulhania Le Jayenge'. Yes, you read that right. Imagine Saif in place of Shah Rukh Khan running towards Kajol in a 'sarson ka khet'. Well, actually don't imagine it because we all know SRK totally nailed that role. Well, looks like he had Saif to thank for it.

Sabka bhai, Sallu bhai turned down not one but two iconic roles. And guess what? They both went on to superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Salman first turned down 'Baazigar', the film that pretty much helped SRK rise to fame overnight. He then even went on to reject 'Chak De India', another iconic film that has become a landmark in Shah Rukh Khan's career. Well, we wonder how Salman feels about those roles now.

When it comes to turning down iconic roles, it looks like Kareena Kapoor Khan has taken quite the inspiration from Shah Rukh Khan. The actress refused to play Nandini from 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'. She later even turned down 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ramleela'. And as if this wasn't enough, the actress had apparently also turned down the role of Naina in 'Kal Ho Na Ho'. Gasp! Well, we're sure Kareena doesn't mind that these films turned into blockbuster hits later on.

Katrina Kaif reportedly turned down 'Chennai Express'. The role went to Deepika Padukone and boy did she totally nail it. After Kareena Kapoor Khan rejected 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ramleela', the role ended up in Katrina Kaif's lap but she decided to reject it too. Katrina also rejected 'Ye Jawani Hai Deewani', which also went to Deepika Padukone and also turned out to be a big blockbuster hit. Katrina rejected 'Barfi' as well.

It will probably be very hard for you'll to believe that Akshay Kumar tuned down this iconic role, but he did. Akshay turned down the film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'. Yes, he turned down the role that Farhan Akhtar won awards for. The role of Milkha Singh was initially offered to Akshay Kumar but after he turned it down, it went to Farhan Akhtar and the rest, as they say, is history. We wonder what made Akshay turn down this role though.

There seems to be a pattern between Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone's film choices. They each end up doing roles that were meant for the other person. Deepika reportedly turned down 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' and the role then went to Katrina Kaif. Well, although she was perfect for the role, we wonder how Deepika would have looked in it. Well, no worries, after all, Deepika got her fair share of iconic roles as well.

Twinkle Khanna turned down the role of Tina in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. The actress even spoke about it on a popular chat show stating that the role could have actually helped her stay afloat in her acting career. But unfortunately, at that time she turned down the role and it went to Rani Mukerji who as we all know totally slayed it. Well, after playing the role of Tina, Rani Mukerji gained immense popularity and we guess she has Twinkle Khanna to thank for it.

Our very own Greek god turned down 'Dil Chahta Hai'. Well, now it does seem weird to imagine Hrithik completing the cute trio instead of Aamir Khan. The role then went to Aamir Khan who played it to perfection. Although the role was even written for Hrithik, Aamir completely nailed it. Thus proving yet again why he's known as the Mr. Perfectionist of the Bollywood industry. Well, we wonder how Hrithik must have felt once the film turned into a hit.
