Day one of Bombay Times began on a stylish note with a special charity show by designer-politician Shaina NC titled, ‘Glamour With A Purpose’. Despite the severe #CoronaScare that city is currently experiencing, the show held at St. Regis, Mumbai picked up momentum and surprisingly was packed to maximum capacity.
Draping saree in innovative styles has always been Shaina’s forte and she went all out for this show incorporating smart ethereal ensembles in multitude of intriguing colours. Her collection called ‘Colours of Unity’ was inspired by the colourful festival of Holi. The showstoppers, Neerja Birla and her son Aryaan and Advaitesha Birla, walked the ramp after a group of women achievers. Paying a tribute to women achievers of Mumbai, the show put models aged between 17 to 75 from different walks of life on display!
Next was the turn of refined design students from Amity University, Mumbai’s School of Fashion Design and Technology to enchant the audiences with their fashion aesthetic. Their collection titled ‘Pratha’ originated from the fashion institute’s larger initiative to revive India’s cultural ethos by bringing it to the forefront of fashion. The chic collection where traditional fused into modish contemporary was classified into 4 exquisite themes directed in sync yet set as a distinct complement to one another.
Designer Rohit Verma in collaboration with Ample Missiion brought women power to the ramp with his #SindoorKhela collection. Drowning in extravagantly royal tones of white, red and varied shades of gold, the lively festive setting provided a dramatic vibe! Urvashi Rautela graced the ramp as a showstopper for the same. The show wasn’t just about women empowerment but also left a strong message upon topics like gender inclusivity, overwhelming girl power, equality and more.
Czech Republic designers, Beata Rajska and Aranka Slavikova set the ramp on fire with their Hollywood-inspired sensual collections. It was all about structured cuts and delicate flowy fabrics that had movement amalgamated with lace details, ruffles and bows in ankle-length skirts. Every silhouette exuded feminine grace and timeless poise which added with two beauty pageant winners as showstoppers, added a flavor of extra elegance to the finale!
