Iconic fashion house Dior’s current creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri was influenced by the merriments of the circus, and it was quite apparent as the ramp was filled with performing acrobats as well as models. The collection saw the circus influences in the form of ruffled clown collars, a tattooed sleeve - reminiscent of a Victorian circus performer - or through tulle skirts covered in sequins, as if replicating the costumes of the acrobats, tamers and riders.

Schiaparelli is one of the fashion houses that are responsible for making the fashion bolder and dramatic. With a reputation like that, Schiaparelli’s bright, bold and extremely eye-catching collection was much expected but much loved as well. From frills inspired by the 80s, colourful gowns and gravity defying silhouettes, Schiaparelli gave the fashion week a much needed avant-garde element. We wouldn’t surprised to see their gown the red carpet in the coming weeks.
