Rani Mukerji is set to return to the silver screen with her next ‘Hichki’. She has made her comeback after giving birth to Adira. The actress expresses her feeling after returning back to the sets after a gap of two long years.
The actress said, ‘’The first day I cried. The first day when I was going to Xavier in the car in the morning and it kind of hit me that I am going back to work. So, I was howling in the car and obviously, the driver was there and I am very conscious to show my emotions because I always keep a very tough and fearless exterior. So, I don’t want to cry in front of my driver. I was in the back seat and I had tears rolling down my eyes and I was like Oh God, this is going to be tough. I hope Adira will be ok because you know what if she gets up and starts bawling and she wants to see me, then what will happen. But my daughter is stronger than I think, she is very supportive.’’
Speaking of her daughter’s personality, Rani said, “I think she is a great mix of me and Adi and she is very definitive in her answers. If it’s a NO, it means a NO and if it’s a yes, then it’s a yes. You can’t really mollycoddle her and think that she is a child so can get things done. She is a very good soul.”
Rani added, “I will be very comfortable romancing younger actors on screen. I have romanced many actors on screen. As an actor, I am here to follow the instruction of film directors,” When asked if Aditya Chopra will be comfortable romancing younger actors on screen, “Why not? He is married to an actress. He has to be comfortable with it. He was not blind-folded when he married me, so yes why would there be a problem?”
Talking about the script on the film Rani said, “When the script came to me, I wasn’t thinking about getting back to work. I really liked the script and said, ‘Okay, we can go ahead with it.’ It was a process that happened organically. Then it hit me, ‘I have to leave my daughter and go to work.’ My husband feels if he hadn’t have pushed me, I wouldn’t have come back. I would be very happy being with Adira whole day long. And that’s true. I am most content when I am with my daughter. Right now, she is taking her afternoon nap, so I am comfortable. The minute she wakes up, I will be like, ‘Okay, time to go.’’
Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra ‘Hichki’ is slated for release on February 23.
