Vogue India’s July issue takes you inside the biggest Bollywood wedding of the year: Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand S Ahuja grace the cover as man and wife but the edition also gives us a peek into all that went on in the dressing room on a few of the couple’s biggest days. Here’s a peek of what it took for the bride to get ready before each event…

Here, an unmarried (yet) Sonam can be seen prepping for her mehendi ceremony. Dressed in an Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla number, she wowed. It featured a beautiful white lehenga from the label featuring embroidered detailing in gold. This was teamed with a white crop-top adorned with elaborate gold embroidery and a gold and white dupatta matching the lehenga. In the picture above, she can be seen putting on her gorgeous kundan jhumkas.

Here, for the same ceremony as above, the bride-to-be was being helped by her near and dear ones to put on her gorgeous kundan maang-tikka that perfectly matched all the other jewellery she had worn to accessorise her Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla look.

For her big day, Sonam chose an Anuradha Vakil number featuring the designer’s signature gotta patti embroidery along with other intricately embroidered details. Sonam was seen sporting a gold choker necklace and also a long kundan necklace. These jewels were also teamed with gold jhumkas and a beautiful matha patti and maang-tikka set. And here, her friends and family are prepping her and helping her get ready. What a gorgeous picture, right?

Here, Vogue’s very own Anaita Shroff Adajania can be seen helping Sonam get ready for her big star-studded reception. For the reception, Sonam went with an Anamika Khanna grey and white lehenga teamed with a grey crop-top and a white cape-like jacket.

Sonam’s trusted makeup artist and hairstylist, Namrata Soni helped the bride look her best and she told Vogue then, “There’s tears in my eyes. I think she’s the most beautiful bride of our country; as delicate as a flower. It’s an extremely emotional time for me.” These ‘BTS’ (Behind The Scenes) highlights rightly prove that so much takes place before the bride makes her entry.
