Don’t Overwash Your Skin: A doctor says that you must not “over wash dry skin because it upsets the natural skin barrier that holds in moisture and protects the delicate equilibrium between dry and oily.” Simply put, if you keep washing your skin over and over again, you will strip it off of its natural oils. So, limit the number of times you wash your skin in a day.
02/5Don’t Let Your Skin Air Dry
Apparently, air drying your skin will result in loss of moisture from it. So rather than letting your skin air dry, you should pat it with a towel and dry it. Post this, you can even use a face oil like the COLBERT MD Illumino Face Oil which will help retain the skin's moisture by keeping it hydrated.
03/5Avoid Drying Products
The doctor further added that you should avoid “drying, water-based products as they evaporate off the skin unless one seals them in with an oil.” He further said that people with dry skin should avoid using soaps as, “soaps have a special molecule that finds oils and strips them from the skin. We need our natural oils for retaining moisture.”
04/5Ditch the Toner
The doctor says, “skip using a toner, as they’re usually very drying and instead use an essence, like the NYDG Luminizing Skin Essence." For the uninitiated, an essence is a K-beauty product that works as a super-hydrating, lightweight formula that makes sure your skin stays hydrated. It locks in your skin's moisture to give you soft, supple skin.
05/5Never Scrub
Unlike what most people may say, scrubbing is not really a good idea for people with dry skin. Over scrubbing can further disrupt the skin and its oils and can aggravate its protective layer. So, rather than scrubbing, opt for gentle exfoliation once a week and follow up with deeply nourishing creams for your skin.
