01/9Meeting your boyfriend's parents for the firs time? This is how you get over the awkwardness
You must have gotten another level comfy with your boyfriend whom you've been dating since a while now. Like the level where you don't have to bother if you're dressed well or if you have your hair done nicely or even for that matter the way you eat, sometimes, a lot. But whenever the day comes for you to meet his parents for the very first time, it's all a matter of life and death for you. Yes! It gets that dramatic. And so, you can only think of all the pressure that's about to come on you and how awkward you're going to be around his parents. You now start thinking of ways either how to avoid the meeting altogether or start rehearsing of things to say in front of them. But honestly, there are very simple ways in which you can avoid the first meeting less awkward and more fun.
02/9Be yourself
It's never a good idea to fake your nature or mannerisms in front of anyone. Especially not in front of your boyfriend's parents who are going to be your future in-laws. Be your natural self when you go to meet them, let them know the real you. But yeah, don't go overboard with it, they don't want to know how weird are you, just yet.
03/9Don't bring your phone to the table
The entire reason why you're meeting his family is that you want to get to know them better and they want to get to know you. So if you keep texting someone while they're having a conversation with you, not only will you be super distracted but it'll also be rather offending to them.
04/9Don't drink too much
Or maybe don't drink at all. As long as you can have one drink and look peaceful and hold your alcohol in, it's fine. But if you can't keep control over yourself when you're drinking then it's best not to drink at all.
05/9Don't be a know-it-all
Nobody likes a know-it-all let alone your boyfriend's family. Let them tell you things that they think are interesting. And at least pretend to be interested in these things so that they feel that they can have a conversation with you.
06/9Get to know the basics about them beforehand
Ask your boyfriend about his parents even before you go to meet them. Little details or to begin with some likes and dislikes and what all to keep in mind while talking to them. This will cut off the awkwardness to a great extent.
07/9Dress comfortably
Forget making an impression with uncomfortable clothes. Be free and comfortable with your outfit because that will only make you feel relaxed and not fussy about adjusting them every now and then.
08/9Listen more talk less
If you don't want to make a fool of yourself by talking too much or talking irrelavant things, always maintain being a good listener than a talker. This way you'll get saved of all the talking and awkwardness.
09/9Have your boyfriend around
This will help greatly to kill the awkwardness as well as to give yourself some moral support. Because if you have your boyfriend around, he can jump in the conversation whenever he feels you can't talk much or wouldn't know what to answer.
