Along with cramps and various other period problems that women have to go through, risk of an early menopause stands lesser known but very important. A report by an online portal says that a study shows 9% increased risk of early menopause for women who work night shifts for more than 20 months.
A lead author named David Stock from the University of Dalhousie in Canada explained, “For women who went through menopause before the age of 45, shift work seemed to be particularly important. This could be due to disruption of their circadian rhythms, stress or fatigue, although more research is needed.”
Another reason for an early menopause could also be late night work stress as the stress hormones tend to disrupt sex hormones like estrogen. With that being said, possibilities of women unable to ovulate is also high, says a study published in the journal Human Reproduction.
Not just that, there are previous evidences that indicate towards early menopause due to working in ‘high –strain’ jobs with ‘difficult schedules’.
So ladies, take extra care of yourself as you wouldn’t want to go through more period problems in life than the already existing ones.
