Late veteran Bollywood actress Madhubala was touted as one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of her time. She was also considered to be one of the most iconic actresses to have ever been present in the Bollywood film industry. A leading American newspaper recently paid homage to her. To honour her they wrote her obituary. The actress who was often compared to legendary actress Marilyn Monroe was profiled for the newspaper. Needless to say, her acting skills were amazing and if there's one Bollywood actress who deserves international recognition, it's Madhubala.

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher is yet another celebrity who deserves to have international recognition. Known for his stellar work in the Bollywood and the Hollywood industries Anupam is one of the most celebrated veteran actors in our country. For his contribution to the field of art and cinema, the legendary actor was presented with the 'Honoured Guest' award by the U.S state of Texas. He has also won numerous awards and accolades for his contribution to Indian cinema including the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan awards.

Amitabh Bachchan first gained popularity in the early 1970s for films such as 'Zanjeer', 'Deewaar', and 'Sholay', and was dubbed India's "angry young man" for his on-screen roles in Bollywood. When it comes to international accolades Big B is pretty much leading the race. He was accorded with France's highest civilian honour, the Knight of the Legion of Honour. In 2001, he was honoured with the Actor of the Century award at the Alexandria International Film Festival in Egypt in recognition of his contribution to the world of cinema. Many other honours for his achievements were conferred upon him at several International Film Festivals, including the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Asian Film Awards.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the winner of the Miss World 1994 pageant and began her Bollywood journey soon after that. Through her successful acting career, she has established herself as one of the most popular and influential celebrities in India. In 2009, she was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest Indian civilian award, by the Government of India for her contributions to the arts. On her birthday in 2012, she was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, a national order of France. Apart from this she has also received numerous accolades within India for her work in cinema.

Referred to in the media as the "Badshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood", "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Many of his films display themes of Indian national identity and connections with diaspora communities, or gender, racial, social and religious differences and grievances. For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the Government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Légion d'honneur which are two of their highest honours in the country.

A. R. Rahman's works are noted for integrating Indian classical music with electronic music, world music and traditional orchestral arrangements. He is undoubtedly the most favourite music composer of pretty much everyone in the nation. Rahman was the 1995 recipient of the Mauritius National Award and the Malaysian Award for his contributions to music. The composer has won two Grammy Awards: Best Compilation Soundtrack Album and Best Song Written for Visual Media. He also won the prestigious Oscar for the best original song Jai Ho for the film 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Anurag Kashyap is regarded as an auteur and is credited for pioneering India's indie scene in the early 2000's. Anurag is one of the most controversial filmmakers in the industry but his films are certainly masterpieces. For his work, he has also won a number of accolades in the country including a number of Filmfare awards. On 20 May 2013, Anurag was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, when India was the guest country of the festival to commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema.

Priyanka Chopra was the winner of the Miss World 2000 pageant. One of India's highest-paid and most popular celebrities, Priyanka Chopra has received numerous awards, including a National Film Award and five Filmfare Awards. In 2016, the Government of India honoured her with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award. She has also won two People's Choice Awards: "Favourite Actress In A New TV Series", and "Favorite Dramatic TV Actress" for her TV show in Hollywood. She is also the first South Asian actress to win a People's Choice Award.

Hailing from Pune, Maharashtra, Radhika Apte began her acting career in theatre, working with the theatre troupe Aasakta in her hometown, before venturing into films. She made her feature film debut with a brief role in the Hindi fantasy 'Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!' (2005). Radhika has come a long way since then and has gone on to act in a number of Bollywood films. Her talent and immense hard work certainly paid off when she became the first Indian actress to win the Best Actress award for her film 'Madly' at the Tribeca Film Festival.
