Bollywood has seen two back to back doomsday as yesterday it was the legend actor Irrfan Khan who passed away and today senior actor Rishi Kapoor lost his life. The 67-year-old actor lost a long battle to cancer. He breathed his last at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. Neetu Kapoor, his wife was by his side among other family members. It was his brother Randhir Kapoor who confirmed the news with the mass.
Even Amitabh Bachchan confirmed this tragic news on his Twitter where he expressed, “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !”
Just last night Randhir Kapoor had given us an update about Rishi being hospitalised, where he said, “It’s true that he has been admitted to the hospital. He is in Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. He was not keeping well and had some problem, so we admitted him early this morning.”
Rishi was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 after which he went to New York to get his treatment done for more than a year. He got back to India in September 2019 after recovery. Once he got back to India, his health had frequently been in focus but he was admitted to the hospital in February in a quick succession.
Rishi was the second son of late actor Raj Kapoor and made his film debut with 'Bobby' alongside Dimple Kapadia in 1973. He was a part of some really amazing movies like 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Laila Majnu', 'Rafoo Chakkar', 'Sargam', 'Karz', 'Bol Radha Bol' and others. In his later stage of career, Rishi gave us some brilliant films like 'Kapoor and Sons', 'D-Day', 'Mulk' and '102 Not Out'.
The actor was last seen in Emraan Hashmi's movie 'The Body' and had just recently announced hi next project which was going to be a remake of the Hollywood movie 'The Intern' which will also feature Deepika Padukone.
We are deeply saddened by this news today. We pray for his soul to rest in peace.
