The Bollywood film industry has managed to give out quite a lot of amazing films that have stayed with the audience over the decades. Be it the actors' performance, songs or even something trivial, every aspect of Bollywood films seems to entertain the audience in their own way. But quite a few times, there are scenes that have to be deleted from these films. This could be because of the Censor Board, or the filmmakers' disapproval or maybe the films just worked without those scenes. Here are 10 deleted scenes from Bollywood films that you didn't even know existed.
02/11'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'
Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' is pretty much a cult classic for the Indian audiences. The film became an instant hit when it had come out. However, there's a scene that Karan deleted from the film because it turned out to be too long. The scene features Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and SRK’s on-screen son. While Hrithik Roshan gets slapped by Kareena Kapoor Khan for questioning her fashion choices, SRK gets slapped by Kajol for calling her a ‘fat buffalo’. And SRK's on-screen son gets slapped by a girl whom he was flirting with for ice cream. Well, although the scene was deleted we wonder what it would have looked like in the film.
03/11'Dhoom 2'
'Dhoom 2' which was a sequel to the action-packed film 'Dhoom' was just as successful as its prequel. The film featured Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in lead roles. While the film was a blockbuster hit, not many know that quite a few scenes were deleted from the film. In one scene Uday Chopra is seen donning a burqa while Abhishek Bachchan stands beside him. Instead of focusing on his work Uday starts oogling at Aishwarya who is standing opposite them. Abhishek then gets mad and yells as Uday to focus on his work.
04/11'Hate Story'
Vikram Bhatt's 'Hate Story' directed by Vivek Agnihotri faced a lot of criticism from the Censor Board for its explicit sexual content. The film had managed to take Bollywood's eroticism to another level. 'Hate Story' which openly promoted a bold erotic genre starred Bengali actress Paoli Dam, Gulshan Devaiya and Nikhil Dwivedi in lead roles. This film along with its sequels 'Hate Story 2' and 'Hate Story 3' had quite a few bed scenes chopped off as per directions from the Censor Board.
05/11'Dedh Ishqiya'
'Dedh Ishqiya' was the sequel to the film 'Ishqiya' which featured Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles. The sequel also featured these stars. In the sequel, the Censor Board had ordered a scene featuring Arshad Warsi to be deleted from the film. However, despite strict orders from the CBFC, director Vishal Bhardwaj retained this scene, where Warsi visits a brothel and received a lot of flak from the Censor Board. However, the scene was still a lot shorter than intended. In pirated versions the scene can be viewed in more detail.
06/11'Shootout at Wadala'
'Shootout at Wadala' featured John Abraham and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles and was the sequel to 'Shootout at Lokhandwala'. John and Kangana had a steamy sex scene in the film which was asked to be cut out along with several cuss words. The film earned an 'A' certificate for the language and scenes used. However, despite earning the adult tag, the film had to undergo a lot of editing and many scenes were deleted by the CBFC. Kangana and John's lovemaking scene was also cut short by a considerable amount of time.
07/11'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster'
'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster' featured Randeep Hooda, Mahie Gill and Jimmy Sheirgill in lead roles. Randeep and Mahi had several steamy sex scenes in the film, all of which were asked to be cut out by the CBFC. A diluted version of the film was then released in the theatres. There were also other intimate scenes featured in the film. One was between Jimmy Sheirgill and Shreya Narayan but that was edited out as well. Only the pirated versions available online feature all of the deleted scenes.
08/11'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge'
Not many know that the makers of 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' had actually planned on a very different introduction to the film. In the introductory scene, Kajol is seen taking steam with her head covered by a dupatta. Suddenly Farida Jalal who plays Kajol's mother in the film enters the room. She then scolds Kajol and tells her that there's no need for her to try and whiten her complexion. She also tells her that she ultimately has to stay in India and Indians prefer a wheatish complexion.
09/11'Heroine'
Kareena Kapoor Khan was lauded for her performance in Madhur Bhandarkar's film 'Heroine'. The film also starred Arjun Rampal in the lead. Some scenes apparently featured Kareena smoking cigarettes. Those scenes were asked to be removed by the CBFC. Apart from that there was reportedly a sex scene featuring Arjun Rampal and Kareena which was also removed from the final edit of the film. Well, the film went on to do really well anyway.
10/11'Cocktail'
'Cocktail' was an instant hit amongst the audience thanks to some stellar acting by Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty. However, there were still a few scenes that were deleted from the film. In one scene, Saif Ali Khan shares his life plan with his uncle, Boman Irani, and tells him about his ploy to constantly hook up and break up with girls to get away from the idea of marriage. In another scene Diana and Saif bond while sitting beside the sea and Diana pushes him into the water. These scenes were deleted by the filmmaker himself.
