Sridevi left the entire country shocked as the veteran actress passed away in the late hours of Saturday, the 24th of February. Sridevi was loved and respected by all and her untimely and unfortunate death has us grieving, much like the entire country. And while it goes without saying that Sridevi was loved not just by her peers and contemporaries but also by her directors and producers for being the phenomenal entertainer she was, she was also quite the muse for many fashion designers. And if we had to name one, it would be Manish Malhotra who was Sridevi and her daughters’ go-to designer. Sridevi proved that age is but a number and she worked some really chic and trendy outfits. She was experimental but kept it classy and her wardrobe was rather tasteful. She also had the flair and poise to pull anything off, be it an elaborate lehenga or a sharp pantsuit. Today, we’ve picked out a few looks of hers that she was recently sported working and in them, she looked resplendent…just like we will always remember her to be.
02/11Pink perfection
The late actress was just recently spotted days back working this creation by her friend and designer, Manish Malhotra, the man who considered the beauty to be his all-time muse. She was seen working a shaded organza saree featuring hues going from dark pink to white. The border of the pallu featured heavily embroidered work which lent the simple look that added oomph. With statement diamond jewellery, she rounded off her look. Sridevi could pull of the saree as effortlessly as she did every garb and we always loved spotting the late veteran in the traditional drape.
03/11Timeless beauty
Much like she pulled off the saree effortlessly, she even managed to do the same with a lehenga set and here, working yet another Manish Malhotra ensemble, she looked simply angelic. The actress was spotted working a cream cotton kurta which featured gold and white embroidered work at the hem and on the sleeves. She teamed this with a matching lehenga skirt featuring heavy white and gold matching embroidery at the hem. She completed the floor-grazing outfit with a sheer embroidered dupatta and went with studs and a statement ring as also a potli bag to accessorise her look with. This time, she went with her hair styled in a side-swept plait to add that Indianness to the look.
04/11Ostentatiousness
Sridevi was a true blue fashionista and she proved it by working this elaborate outfit whilst attending the screening of her film ‘Mom’ in Moscow. She was seen working a Rohit Bal outfit and we couldn’t take our eyes off of her. Her vintage French style outfit featured a floor-length black velvet jacket with floral embroidery styled over a plain black floor-length dress. She kept it simple and minimalistic in the makeup and hair department and rounded off her look with a dash of red for her smile. It’s understood but we’ll just say it…She looked ethereal!
05/11Ethnic elegance
Yet again working a saree, Sridevi proved with this look of hers that you can go with an Indian look in the subtlest of shades. Working a Tarun Tahiliani all-over embroidered saree in a light shade of pink, even edging toward white, she looked stunning. With a pair of danglers, a diamond handcuff and a statement diamond ring, she rounded off her look. She did not distract from her intricately detailed outfit by working her hair in an up-do. This is one of our favourite looks of the actress!
06/11Black beauty
This was a look that made her look like what she was: royalty! The diva was seen working this Manish Malhotra outfit and in it, she looked everything regal and royal-like. Her outfit featured a lehenga skirt with all-over brocade work in gold and she teamed that with a black top and a rich black dupatta featuring gold brocade work on the border. With her locks styled open and in soft waves and with an au naturale makeup look, Sridevi looked straight out of a fairytale in the outfit. Trust Manish Malhotra to go wrong with his muse, right?
07/11The blingy way
Here, the actress was seen working an all-over embellished gown and in it, she shimmered like a disco ball. Her gown featured shimmery gold sequins all over and sheer sleeves. Sridevi’s dark locks styled in a low-slung ponytail made for a nice contrast to her shimmer and shine she had going on and with a gold clutch and danglers, she completed her look. Sridevi’s makeup was done to perfection as always and we love how with this look, she proved that shimmer and shine are worth giving a shot once in a while.
08/11Keeping it sharp
Right in the beginning, we said that she could pull it all off, sarees and pantsuits alike. Here, the actress worked a sharp and smart pantsuit with a metallic gold sheen and in it, she looked glam, poised and so sharp. Featuring straight-fit cropped pants and a blazer, her suit made for the perfect option for an office meeting or even for any ‘smart casual’ event. With a dull gold clutch and studs, she accessorised her look. The actress aptly kept with the ‘sharp’ theme and wore her hair straightened and slicked back to keep it looking sleek. Those statement smokey eyes though…
09/11Blossoming away
With this look, the actress proved that florals were here to stay. She was yet again seen working her favourite, Manish Malhotra and she wore a floral embroidered jacket-style anarkali featuring a plunge for the neckline and she teamed it with a bandeau top. She also went with a tasselled lilac stole to round off her look. Didn’t she look everything bright, stunning and blossomy? We think so! With her hair styled open and with danglers, she rounded off her look. We love how Sridevi was always on-point with her makeup too!
10/11Taking the plunge
While we deemed Sridevi to be this classy fashionista, she was also rather sexy and she proved that age is just a number when it came to fashion. Working this sexy jumpsuit from Falguni and Shane Peacock, she looked all things stunning. Her shimmery silver jumpsuit featured drop shoulders and a plunging sweetheart neckline and wide-legged pants. Going with a ring, a diamond bracelet, earrings and a shimmery clutch, she rounded off her look. Her hair was blow-dried and left open and looking voluminous. She went with slight shimmer for her eye-shadow and with red for her pout to round things off. This is one of our most favourite looks of the late veteran actress.
