One of the most prestigious fashion events in the country, the Lakme Fashion Week 2019 finally kickstarted on the 21st of August. And let's just say, like every time, this time too they've got a number of esteemed designers to showcase some intricate and beautiful designs on the runway. From celebrity showstoppers to designs you'll fall in love with, the Lakme Fashion Week is definitely one event you need to watch out for. Here's all that went down on Day 1 of the event.
The show was kickstarted by none other than ace designer Manish Malhotra who showcased his collection 'Maahrumysha'- a celebration of resplendent beauty in dazzling details of Indian couture. Walking the ramp for him as a celebrity showstopper was the gorgeous Katrina Kaif and boy did she look mesmerising in a custom Manish Malhotra lehenga.
The next show was presented by INIFD who showcased their debut collection 'GENNEXT'. Featuring intricate patterns, an amalgamation of bold and pastel colours, their collection certainly struck the right chord within the audience.
Moving on, the next show was presented by Half Full Curve who showcased their collection 'Gulaab Bagh'- inspired by the interiors of royal palaces. Also showcasing his collection was Vineet Rahul. Everything about his collection boasted love, devotion and flamboyance.
The next show was presented by The Pot Plant who showcased their collection 'Fashion meets performance art' featuring gender-fluid silhouettes and romantic drapes. Poochki's detailing and hand block prints took the runway by storm.
Presenting her collection 'Simply Studio 54' was Pallavi Mohan. The gorgeous Esha Gupta turned showstopper for her. Also presenting their collection ‘The still Life’ was Rara Avis by Sonal Varma.
Payal Singhal celebrated 20 years of her eponymous brand and launched her collection #PS20, inspired by gypsies and bohemia. Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar turned showstoppers for her.
Saaksha & Kinni presented their new collection that celebrated colours and prints in all the glory that India has to offer.
Amit Aggarwal presented his collection 'Flux' which reimagines the laws that direct the journey of light – motivating every cut, embroidery, hue and silhouette that make the soul of the collection. The gorgeous Lisa Haydon and the charismatic Hardik Pandya turned showstoppers for Amit Aggarwal.
