A lot of people, especially women have excess fat on their upper arms. This area eventually turns into a flab and starts to wobble or droop. This is sometimes referred to as "bat wings". The triceps or upper arms are usually not used much by the body which is why due to lack of exercise most people develop arm flabs. Bat wings tend to be more common in older people and overweight individuals.
Although one can benefit from a full body workout, in this case, a targeted exercise may come in more handy in getting rid of that arm flab. Here are a few exercises you can try out at the gym or at home. These will help tone the muscles of your upper arms. Do remember to warm up about 20 minutes before you begin the exercise.
Pushups: Keep your body suspended over the floor with your palms positioned right beneath the shoulder. Extend your arms and make sure that only your toes are touching the ground. Bend your elbows and slowly lower your body towards the ground. Then using your arms, push your body away from the ground.
Wall pushups: Stand at an arm's length from a wall. Place your hands on the wall, directly in front of your shoulders. Bend your arms to bring your shoulders close to the wall and then push your body away from the wall, using your arms.
Plank: Lie in a classic pushup position. Place your elbows on the ground in a parallel position to your body. Use your toes to keep up your support. Hold the body in this position for a few minutes.
Arm lifts: Stand with your legs apart. Hold a dumbbell in each hand. Lift the dumbbells in such a way that your body forms a T shape. Then bring your arms down. Repeat this exercise in sets.
Well, try out these exercises and see for yourself just how well they work against bat wings. Stay tuned for more updates.
