01/14Here's how you can spend more time outdoors
Enjoying time in nature is well worth it, many studies claim. Experts say time outdoors can do your health, both physical and mental, a world of good. "The more time we spend in nature, being part of nature, being curious about it and taking care of it, the more it will become part of our lives," Eva Selhub, a physician, resilience expert and author of Your Brain on Nature, told a news portal. Spending time in nature can really work wonders for your mental health. Apart from boosting your immunity, it can also improve brain function. Plus, it can help make you feel alert and well. Here are some ways in which you can connect with nature.
02/14Cook under the sun
All you need is a garden, some friends and some food to cook under the sun. You can opt for a fun barbeque session with a bunch of your friends or you could ask everyone to help and cook a whole meal together. Either way, it'll be a lot of fun.
03/14Take a nap
One of the best ways in which you can connect to nature is to just go sleep in the grass for a bit while the birds chirp and the plants nearby smell great. Find a tree with shade to nap under and spread out your bedsheet. Doze off for a bit and you'll wake up refreshed like never before.
04/14Go to the park with your kids
If you've got kids then make sure that you take them to the park every day. In fact, play with them too. Let your hands and feet get dirty, feel the mud underneath your feet and take in all the aroma from the wildflowers. This will help both you and your kids bond better with nature.
05/14Build a birdhouse
One of the best things you can do to watch nature up, close and personal is to build a birdhouse near your window. This way you can sit quietly and watch cute birds fly up to the birdhouse all the time. You could even try to identify them if you're up for it.
06/14Identify wildflowers on your way
Say you've stepped out of the house to run an errand or get to work. try to pay attention to all the wildlife around you. One of the best things to keep your mind fresh is to try and identify wildflowers. You can even try to sketch them if you fancy that.
07/14Have lunch outside
Go for a picnic to your local park or garden. Have a meal outside under the shade of the trees surrounded by the mesmerising scents of the wild. It'll give you that much needed-nature time without making you take out extra time to spend in nature.
08/14Say no to technology
Try going out for a stroll in your local park or go for a hike if you feel adventurous. But do not try to take 20 selfies when you get there. Turn off your phone at least for the duration that you are spending outdoors in nature. It'll help you feel a lot more connected to the world around you.
09/14Try to do some gardening
You don't have to have a green thumb to get into gardening. All you need are a few tutorials and the right plants to help you get started. Trust us, when you nurture that plant and watch it grow you will feel happiness like never before.
10/14Adopt or borrow a pet
Pets, usually dogs, need to be taken out for walks. So, if you don't own one you can definitely borrow someone's pet and offer to take the pet for a walk. The dog will end up getting its dose of nature and you will feel super calm, relaxed and happy connecting with nature.
