After a long, tiring, scorching summer, monsoons are a welcome change. The climate is pleasant, lush greens everywhere and joyous showers of rains. But while you’re out jumping in puddles of water and enjoying your rain, it’s all fun only till it turns down to drain. Here’s what we mean – rainwater although a respite after the summers invite a whole lot of water borne diseases. Your feet seem to get the worst of it. That short lived fungal infection can turn into something bigger than what you imagined. Thankfully, it doesn’t always have to be. Ahead are some tips you can get into your routine, to keep your feet clean and cared for in the monsoons.
02/8Opt for a pedicure
You don't need to spend a ton of money at the salon for a pedicure; you can just opt for one at home. Just soak your feet in warm water and then use a pumice stone to scrub all the dead skin on your feet away. Pat them dry, apply some moisturiser and you're done!
03/8Wear clean and dry footwear
Say you got caught in the rain and your feet got soaked. Don't wear the same footwear unless it's completely dry. Wet footwear will not only cause foul odour but will also give you foot fungus. Make sure that your footwear doesn't have any sort of mud or rainwater left inside either.
04/8Keep your feet moisturised
During the rainy season, your feet can get dehydrated from wearing those rainy shoes. So, to ensure that your feet stay in tip-top condition, moisturise them at least twice a day, once after you shower and once before you go to sleep.
05/8Cleaning
Of course, you have to clean your feet. But we’re not here stating the obvious. Your regular cleansing of feet with a gush of water isn’t going to help. Your feet needs a deep cleanse, at least once a week. Here’s of you get it. Soak your feet in luke warm water with a pinch of salt in it. This technique will remove dirt and provide relaxation to your feet.
06/8Exfoliation
Exfoliation becomes of increased importance, especially with the monsoons causing havoc and building up dead cells on your feet’s surface. If possible exfoliate your feet daily. Use a pumice stone or scrub pad to exfoliate dry skin on the feet.
07/8Pick open toe footwear
Picking the right kind of footwear is extremely essential during the monsoons. Not only should they offer the right kind of support and grip, they should also have an open toe design. Closed footwear tends to trap the feet along with the rainwater that seeps in. It is also more susceptible for germ development.
08/8Use talcum powder
Keeping your feet dry during the monsoons is of extreme importance in the monsoons. Here’s an easy of doing so. All you have to do is sprinkle some talcum powder in your footwear. The excess moisture of your feet would get absorbed and your feet would smell better instantly.
