But what the companies that make these spreads and butter alternatives fail to tell you that they use copious amounts of sugar to get the taste that you love so much. So, if you really like your peanut butter, you could find one that’s made organically or make it at home yourself.

That how breakfast cereal got the tag of a healthy breakfast food is a story for some other day. But here’s story for now. Most breakfast cereals have high content of sugar as well. This means that their glycemic index is high which can lead to an inevitable crash in energy. Additionally, cereals are also made of refined grains, which mean they’re not fortified with fibre and other vital vitamins and minerals. Basically, they barely provide any nutrition.

Store brought or not – the entire process of juicing a fruit requires one to deconstruct an entire fruit (and throw it away) to strain a liquid that’s basically sugar and water. Despite the generations’ long reputation of being healthy, fruit juices are basically just sugar and water. They are devoid of most if not all the nutrients from the fruit and give no nutritional benefit to the body. Plus, it doesn’t give you the feeling of being full like whole fruit would.

Just because a granola bar has the world ‘healthy’ labeled on it, doesn’t mean it is. A granola bar is ultimately processed and made up of high amounts of sugar and hydrogenated oil. (which is responsible rising levels of cholesterol.) In fact nutritionists are of the opinion that they are not any better than a candy bar!
