At this point, it really is no secret that the coronavirus pandemic has taken over the world by storm. More than 114 countries have been affected by the illness while the death toll has risen to 5000. Needless to say, such drastic times require drastic measures which is why the World Health Organisation (WHO) released certain guidelines which also includes isolating oneself at home for a certain time period.
Taking the severity of the illness into account, multiple organisations have asked their employees to work from home while various events all over the world including concerts and meetings have been postponed indefinitely. And one such event that has also been postponed is the MET Gala 2020. As per the latest news, the MET Gala which was to be held on May 4th 2020 has been ‘indefinitely cancelled.’
For those uninitiated, the MET Gala is one of the most prominent events held every year on the first Monday of May. The event is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is known for being amongst the biggest fashion events held annualy. The theme to be followed this year was ‘About Time: Fashion & Duration’.
A spokesperson for the event said, "Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, ‘About Time’, and the opening night gala, will be postponed to a later date." As of now, no further updates about the event have been given. So, looks like all those of you who were looking forward to the event are going to have to wait a little longer to see your favourite Hollywood celebs strut down that red carpet.
