Music can really heal people and that's no news. It can relax your body and calm your mind. And there are a few therapists who use this concept to help patients heal from common ailments. We're talking about sound therapy having a huge impact on people these days which clams to improve focus and decreases physical pain too.
Senior director of spa at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando, Derek Hofmann says, "The goal of sound therapy is ultimately balance and restoration, though we have seen emotional release of all kinds, such as crying, euphoria, laughter, and even anger." He added, "This treatment brings emotions to the surface, so oftentimes feelings that you are harboring will arise shortly after a session—or it could take up to a day for you to feel this emotional impact."
There is no particular answer to why sound therapy is so soothing but its practitioners have theories. Hofmann, who noted that it's more than just the meditative and relaxing effects of sound. He says, "The vibrations work by 'massaging' every cell in the body. In contrast to a traditional massage, which manipulates the surface tissue of the body, this treatment works all the way through your skin, muscle, tissue, and organs."
Researches support sound therapy for relief of both psychological as well as physical pain. The Tibetan bowls noticeably decrease anger and stress among people who are new to such kind of practice in particular. Low frequency sound stimulation can increase the amount of time that a participant spends on both sitting and standing without pain.
Milosavljevic says, "While sound therapy isn’t a cure-all for most people with severe pain or stress, it’s definitely beneficial."
