There's no doubt that obesity has turned into one of the topmost health issues plaguing our society. It also comes with a plethora of health problems that people can develop like heart diseases, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, osteoarthritis and even some forms of cancer. And while these health issues are reason enough to worry, apparently obesity can even hinder a person's sex drive.
When a person weighs 20% more than he or she is supposed to, then they're considered obese. And obesity can affect testosterone levels in men. “Being overweight hinders stamina which is important to sustain sexual performance. It also disturbs one’s hormonal balance which in turn affects testosterone levels, causing loss of libido or low sex drive. Obesity also affects blood flow to the genitals and lack of blood circulation there causes erectile dysfunction,” said one doctor.
Apart from this, obesity can also take a toll on people's emotions. It can lead to feelings of sadness, loneliness, despair and depression. This can further lead to an unwanted indulgence in junk food, messed up sleep cycle, low sex drive and whatnot. All of these issues can also lead to infertility.
A few ways to ensure that you don't end up with obesity are, to keep a track of your weight and BMI, to ensure that you're active most of the time (take the stairs instead of the elevator), to opt for outdoor activities instead of screen time, have a proper balanced diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and go for a health check-up every six months.
