The Facebook scandal has been taking the Internet by storm and this brought people's attention to the other Internet giant - Google. Google is our go-to for almost everything we need every day. Be it the search engine, Google maps, Gmail or Google plus, like it or not most of our information is stored in these places. But remember, Google has a data policy for all its services. So here's how you can check and keep a tab on your data that Google uses.
- Firstly go to myaccount.google.com and view almost all of the settings, including the ones around data use. On Gmail click on your profile picture icon and the option for My Accounts should open below this.
- Click on the Privacy Checkup option to manage the privacy settings of apps like YouTube, Google plus etc.
- Then go to Personal Info and Privacy, and there is an option for “About Me”. This will show you what information of yours is available to other users.
- Go to activity controls in Google and click on the Web and App activity option. Everything you search for in Google is stored here. So you can turn off this setting if you don't want your search information stored.
So now you know how to stay safe and keep a check on all the information that is stored on you. Stay tuned for more updates.
