For most women, pregnancy food craving can be divided into categories, like sweet, savory, spicy and sour. Although these preferences can vary from one woman to another. Some of the common pregnancy foods that one likes to eat during their journey of motherhood are ice creams, desserts, chocolate, and pickles.
Pickles tops the chart of all pregnancy food cravings undoubtedly. The spicy-tangy taste of the dish is a delight for most of the pregnant women. Available in a variety of vegetables and even some fruits, this preserved food is delish. Although it particularly has some benefits for all expecting mothers, it equally important to be aware of its dark side.
Limited consumption of pickles is safe for pregnant ladies as it comes loaded with sodium and spices. Excessive intake can result in bloating and gut problems. It can also cause dehydration in the body. A fresh batch of pickles prepared at home is always better than chemical-induced ones from the market.
You must balance out your intake of too much pickles with drinking healthy fluids. Drinking enough water is another solution. This will help to keep your immune system healthy as it flushes out toxins to keep you away from any health complications during pregnancy
Some people also tend to suffer from gas upon eating too much of pickles. This may result in digestive disorders, such as frequent acidity, indigestion, dysentery, gastritis and more.
However, pickles also have proven to be beneficial to combat pregnancy problems, like morning sickness, loss of appetite and nausea. If pickles are consumed moderately there’s no harm in indulging.
