Continuing with a historical addition from last year — the women pacer squad, Procam International has reaffirmed the significance of the all-women pacer community. They were introduced this year, with Asian Games Gold Medalist and Arjuna Awardee, ASICS athlete, Olympian Jinson Johnson. They unveiled the ASICS Finisher Tee that is to be presented to 475 each to men and women and 50 for age category winners who finish the open 10K on May 19. This is yet another initiative this year for runners to feel the pride in delivering their best performances on race day.
The pacers, who will lead 15 buses at regular intervals between 45 minutes and 85 minutes, include some of India’s best ultra-marathoners, along with women who believe everything is possible if they will.
The TCS World 10K returns for its 2019 edition to be held on May 19. Like the year before, this time around, an all-women pacer squad will power the run. Olympian, Arjuna Awardee and ASICS athlete Jinson Johnson recently unveiled the event Finishers Tee and introduced the squad, including Krishna Kohli, RanjaniRamanujam, Shwetha Maurya, Shruti Jain, Divya Kanchan and Swarn Jha
All the 15 pacers, who chose this role for their own unique reason, will run with one common goal, help each runner feel the pride in completing their best runs on the day. The 45-minute bus, which is the quickest this edition, will be paced by Shruti Jain, an Instagram celebrity and a yoga guru. She is joined by a host of celebrated female pacers including pacer from the previous two editions of the run — Nandini Ashokumamar (80 minutes), Swarn Jha (65 minutes), who has lost 20 kilos through her running journey, Krishna Kohli (60 minutes), a multi-tasking mother, who runs for her ‘me time’ and SundarambalSairamesh, who started her running journey when she turned 41, and is pacing the last bus this edition, the 85-minute one.
The other pacers include Shailja Shridhar (Bengaluru) for 50 minutes, Bindu Juneja (Bengaluru) for 55 minutes, Kalyani Tokekar (Pune) for 60 minutes, Shweta Mauyra (Bengaluru) for 65 minutes, Asha NS (Bengaluru) and Suchitra Patwardhan (Bengaluru) for 70 minutes, Alka Kumari (Bengaluru) and Divya Kanchan (Bengaluru) for 75 minutes, RanjaniRamanujam (Bengaluru) for 80 minutes, NihaHiremath (Hyderabad) and SundarambalSairamesh (Chennai) for 85 minutes.
