Kylie Jenner may be the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner fam but is also easily amongst the most successful one from the family as well. After getting surrounded by the controversy around her alleged enhanced lips, the reality star was quick to encash the opportunity to start her own line of ‘lip kits’ which then lead to the birth of her own makeup line, Kylie Cosmetics.
With products selling out almost as soon as they launch, Kylie Cosmetics is easily amongst the most successful makeup brands. The makeup mogul even forayed into skincare, by launching her own line of skincare products, Kylie Skin.
All was going well for the ‘self-made’ billionaire, when the news came out that Kylie Jenner sold a majority stake of her beauty brands to cosmetics giant, Coty for $600 mn. In case you’re wondering, Coty, is the popular conglomerate that owns Cover Girl, Tiffany & Co., Gucci, Balenciaga, Rimmel London and now, Kylie Cosmetics. Hugo Boss & Burberry fragrances just add to the portfolio.
While there isn’t a reason revealed for this clear shift in the brand, with the majority of the stake *not* belonging to Kylie, the brand insists nothing has changed. Kylie will continue to be the face of the brand. The only changes come in the name – Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin will together be called Kylie Beauty.
