A new technique is now able to determine the correlation between a person's body position and their blood flow. As per research, the way a person moves can impact their body's blood flow. Imaging photo plethysmography was the method that was used to examine blood vessels located in the carotid system. Furthermore, blood flow response to various stimuli in health and disease was noted down by the researchers.
Professor Alexei Kamshilin said, "It all started when we examined migraine patients. When observing one of our volunteers, we suddenly noticed that the way he moved affected the results of the observations. We decided to check if other people had the same effect, and the answer was yes."
"However, different people demonstrated different responses to body position change, which means that this new method of pulse wave velocity detection provides valuable information on the regulation of the peripheral blood flow," he added.
As per the researchers, this study can help scientists gain insight on the interaction between light and the circulatory system. Stay tuned for more updates.
