11/15Diabetes
This is almost impossible to believe but lack of sleep can actually end up giving you type 2 diabetes. Researchers have found out that every person had 9% increased risk of type 2 diabetes with every hour less than 7 hours of sleep.
12/15Obesity
Obesity is one of the most common health issue and it can also be due to lack of sleep. Keeping up till late hours might lead you to binge eating and this eventually leads to obesity. This is because we stay up for hours and it can make us crave for late night snacks which in turn means we binge on junk food. All of it can keep adding unwanted fat on our body which in the longer run leads to obesity.
13/15Hypertension
People who sleep for five hours or less each night are more than twice likely to suffer from high blood pressure. High BP is a risk factor for many more issues like heart failure, metabolic syndrome, etc. which is quite a serious problem. Hence, putting a lot of importance on getting the right amount of sleep is very essential.
14/15Colon cancer
Among many other risk factors for colon cancer, one can be lack of sleep. Researchers have found out that people who sleep for an average six hours of sleep had almost 50% increased risk of colon cancer as compared to those whose average sleeping hours came up to seven to eight hours.
15/15Dementia
Consistently suffering from poor sleep can give you higher concentrations of beta-amyloid protein in the brain. This means in the longer run, you might suffer from dementia and Alzheimer's. Those who sleep the least have both the highest concentrations of beta-amyloid in the brain as well as performing badly on memory tests.
