Cellulite products don’t work. So why use them? Cellulite is a genetic formation of fat cells. The only ways to get rid of it are to lose fat cells so there is less that can be cellulite or get a laser treatment at your dermatologist. And realistically, for most women it doesn’t matter how thin you get, you will still have cellulite. Over-the-counter products usually just use a stimulant like caffeine to puff up the pockets in your cellulite so it looks smoother… until the product wears off.

Essence is the step between a toner and a serum. It’s thicker than your toner, but lighter than a serum. Depending on the product you choose, it targets your skincare issues and helps the products applied next seep in better. Critics often call it redundant, which is partly true. If you’ve found a cleanser that cleanses skin and a solid serum that does its job, an essence is definitely not a necessity.

Believe it or not, an eye cream essentially only moisturises the skin around the eye. Since the skin around the eye is more delicate, the eye cream has more moisturising properties around them. You can easily just tap in another layer of your face cream around the eye area to get the same benefits.

This may seem like a stretch, but hear us out. A toner ideally is just bringing your skin’s pH levels back to balance. (This does not include exfoliating toners.) Hence, if you use a good cleanser that cleanses your skin without stripping it dry, you can directly follow it up with a serum and it would still work

Face masks are tub full of indulgence that make you feel good without really changing the way your skin is. Their results, if any, are often short lived. If your skincare routine is a solid mix of cleansers, exfoliators, moisturisers and serums, a face mask is just a glorified add on.
