There was a time when fashion was defined as elegance and panache and only certain things made the cut. Everything else was too different or too 'ugly' as people might call it so it was shunned. That's why so many of us have a hoard of 'quirky' clothes like loud graphic tees, clothes with uneven hemlines, fringes, boho patterns, sack dresses, mismatched jewellery, statement headgears and whatnot but we've all tucked them away in the corner for fear of them not being 'fashionable'.
But as time passed, we saw so many new trends start to take to the runway. And so many of these looked like the quirky clothes we all own. What's happened now is that comfort has started to be incorporated into fashion which is why we see oversised clothes and bizarre neon prints taking over the world. Ugly is basically the new cool! So, this gives you a chance to get all of your stuff out of the closet and start experimenting with it.
Huge brands like Balenciaga, Gucci, Birkenstocks, Vetements and so many others have now started making clothes and accessories that would never fit into any fashion standards in the times gone by. But now, we're seeing everything from uneven textures to mismatched silhouettes take over the fashion industry and these trends are here to stay. So give those pencil heels a rest and opt for a pair of comfy sandals instead, it's in trend!
Now, that the coronavirus has us in lockdown, it's showed us that we never know how little time we have left. So, make use of this time to explore and experiment with your style. And when the doors to the world are finally opened to us once again, step out with your newfound style and quirk and show the world who you truly are! Stay tuned for more updates.
